Knowing Jesus as merely a teacher of morals or a prophet mighty in deed is not enough to get us through difficult times, or to save us from our diseased and wounded souls. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus came upon our place of darkness to give us new life. When he takes hold of our lives, and we exchange our lives for his, he makes all things new. He sets us on a way that is not hopeless - and gives us a future and a hope.

The problem with perfectionism is that we can never achieve perfection through our efforts. We end up giving up, getting out of time with God, and falling short of what God has for us. Instead of seeking perfection, seek completion. Jesus set out to complete the will of the Father as he stumbled and was humiliated on the way to the cross. We too can carry out God’s will for our lives as we complete his assignments in timing with the Holy Spirit. It may not look perfect or turn out the way we envision, but God’s stamp of approval will be on it. What we complete will be a foundation for those who come after us to build upon.

God wants to bring us to a place of silence, where all the other voices drown out, so that we can get a hold of his voice. What actually happens is that his voice gets a hold of us! He will build a shout in us that is so compelling that we can break down walls!
