God wants to bring us to a place of silence, where all the other voices drown out, so that we can get a hold of his voice. What actually happens is that his voice gets a hold of us! He will build a shout in us that is so compelling that we can break down walls!

When we have an encounter with the living God, everything changes…

When the word of God comes, it takes you outside of yourself and what it actually does is it plants you in destiny. It shoots you out in a way that you can just play the part. If you play the part, then you will become a fortified city. You’ll become an iron pillar. You’ve got to learn to play the part, even if it doesn’t suit you that well at first. We have become a people that require everything to suit us in order to feel confident. But God-fidence doesn’t come that route. The confidence from God doesn’t come the route via the world, where everything is packaged perfectly. When God gives you a calling, play the part and then wait to become a fortified city.

The night seasons are seasons in which God wants to renew us. Without too much thought about what the outcomes are, night seasons purify us. Night seasons are times in which God is the only one you have. You are relying only upon God alone and you are stripped of all help from everybody else. At that time, nobody else is going to help you except God. Until you come to that place, you will always be a little bit shaky because you’re dependent upon other things. Anything that goes wrong, it will shake you up. But it was in this place that I knew, in the midst of all this, I could believe God. It didn’t matter what he would do to me, whether he slew me, or he blessed me, or he blessed the church or he blessed my family or didn’t, I was completely assured of him. I had never had that. I’ve seen miracles, I’ve seen the raising of the dead, but I never had that. But there is such a way in which God was so satisfying. It would be almost as if when I just flip my eyelids, just set my heart towards God, I could feel the love of God just flooding me. Even now, I just turn my eyes to him and just praise him and I find that a lot of times, tears will come into my eyes, because something has changed inside me.

You may be in a night season, but I sense that dawn is coming. If you feel stuck or hopeless, God is giving you an opportunity to build yourself up for the dawn of the day. As surely as the sun comes up, your darkness will give way to light. Be ready for it.

It's clear that you can't actually see and feel the tide of the Spirit until you battle through. Without this warfare, what we see is not the real picture of the situation. Only through the lens of active fervent prayer (prayer toward stretch-point) do we see what's going on in reality.
