Small Groups

Small groups are the venue in which you get to put into practice many of things that are taught at VCF.  Each small group is different, but you will find these common spiritual ingredients being worked on and shaped in small groups at VCF.

  • learning to hear from God in the scriptures
  • being led by the Spirit
  • learning to live from the presence of God
  • praying together for your workplace, family, and friends
  • praying for and ministering to one another
  • growing as witnesses where God has put us
  • discussing and applying the Sunday sermon

Currently, there are 4 kinds of small groups at VCF.

ALPHA

  • Focus:  The Alpha Course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed manner, over 12 thought-provoking weekly sessions.  It is low-key, friendly, and fun.
  • Schedule:  Tuesday nights, beginning September 7th for 12 weeks.
  • Led by:  Sanjeev Nandakumaran

THRIVING GROUP

  • Focus:  For the past few months, we have sensed God's desire for His people to thrive in real life under trying situations. Thriving Group is a resource for living a flourishing life even in drought.  For those who want to work out real-time specifics in a community that shares and prays for each other, this group may just be the thing for you.  These sessions focus on practical keys to working out those critical situations.
  • Schedule:  First meeting is July 21st at 7:30 pm.  Thereafter, we will meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm until January 2011.
  • Led by:  Pastor Michael Koh and Pastor Grant Goble

Note:  Thriving Group is for those not currently involved in a small group (see below).

SMALL GROUPS

  • Focus:  The purpose of small groups at VCF is to grow in knowing God, building strength and applying His word through discipleship, fellowship and prayer for one another.
  • Schedule:  Schedule varies by group.  Groups generally meet weekly or every other week.
  • Led by:  Pastoral Ministry Team Members

70 COHORT

  • Focus:  Like the group of 70 who were sent out by Jesus in the gospels, the 70 Cohort is a dynamic and interactive group where we are growing together as witnesses in our land to see people come to know Jesus.  During our time together, we learn how to engage with and listen to God through prayer for our loved ones, co-workers and neighbors.  We do this through practical teaching, discussion and most importantly, regular prayer together in small groups.
  • Schedule:  Meets the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:00 am-11:30 am
  • Led by:  Pastor Michael Koh and Pastor Grant Goble

To join a small group, please feel out the small group interest form.  We’ll review it and get back to you.  If you have any questions, contact the Pastoral Ministries Team.
